A few things to share...

The next Mercantile shop opening is coming up this weekend and we're offering another Friday evening "after hours" gathering. Customers seem to enjoying driving out after work to shop at leisure and leave their weekends free for other activities. 
Please join us at Fawn Run Farm this Friday, November 1 
from 5 to 7 p.m. Central time
 at 3883 E. 700 N. Rolling Prairie.
I'm planning some yummy appetizers 
and maybe it will be cold enough to sip hot cider this time!

 Although Thanksgiving is the next big event, 
Christmas and the holidays are right around the corner
 and we're filling the shop with lots of seasonal goodies!



Didn't this covered board turn out cool? I thought it was a pastry or noodle board when I purchased it, but my Dad says it's a drafting board. Regardless, I loved the painted surface on this side and thought it would make a neat background for this Family Heirloom Weavers cloth and my little gourd garland. 
Here it is displayed in my dining room, but it's on its way 
out to the shop for this weekend.  

Haven't had much time to sew Christmas yet, but I did turn out a few Santa mice. This one is poking out of one of the burners of this Crescent bitty stove. I stuck a "feather" tree in it and place a battery-operated tea light candle over one of the burners.

        I'd planned to just put this mousie
 in the 1940's Holland shoe,
 but as soon as I did, he asked for a tiny reindeer!
 He had a good plan, didn't he?
Love how this cabinet morphed  after I painted the interior- 
can't wait to fill it with holiday goods!

Here's a new piece we just got in-love the sage green color 
and all the possibilities for display!
 I also wanted to share with you the recipes from our last opening.
 So many of you requested recipes, so here you go- enjoy!

Caramel Apple Dip

8 oz. cream cheese
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. sugar
1/3 cup Aspen Mulling’s Caramel Apple Spice Blend
1 tsp. vanilla
Chopped peanuts
(Can adjust quantities of sugars to taste.)
Blend ingredients into softened cream cheese. Serve with sliced apples. 
(Toss apples with lemon juice to prevent browning.)

2- Ingredient Brownies

1-20oz. brownie mix
1-15oz. can pumpkin (I used pumpkin pie mix)

Preheat oven to 350 °
Spray a baking pan with cooking spray (or oil it.)
Mix brownie mix and pumpkin until combined.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes
or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
*I put a melted chocolate chip frosting on mine. To do this, remove brownies from oven a few minutes before done. Sprinkle 1 cup of chocolate chips over the surface of the brownies and put back in oven for about 2 minutes. Remove brownies when done and using a spatula or wide knife, quickly swirl over chips to completely cover the brownies.
Let cool completely before cutting into squares.

October Shop Update

Thought I'd share with you the updated displays for this weekend. 
We had an AWESOME Friday evening "after hours" gathering tonight!!!
( Pumpkin brownies were a hit, too.)
Need any sweet Annie or bittersweet? I'll have some this weekend!

 A Thanksgiving vignette greets you as you enter the shop.
 Lots of handmades and antiques here.
 Jill Boniface did the cool turkeys for this grouping. (Hot off of her machine!)
 Aspen Mulling Spices ready for fall and winter parties and gatherings.
I used some of the "Caramel Apple" flavored one in the caramel apple dip
 and also in the apple juice we served guests in the shop tonight.
 Come and get your spook on!

And the old Globe washing machine was snatched up by a happy customer this evening!
