You say toe-may-to and I say toe-mah-to.....

Hubby said "we're" doing our garden tomatoes today,
so after I went to shop at the flea market at noon (filled my truck again~ fun!),
I came home to get to work.
There weren't as many "fruits" as I'd anticipated;
if I'm going to go to the "trouble" of  taking out the equipment and making a mess,
I like to make it worth the time, but..... went ahead with what we had.
 Clean tomatoes cut in chunks.
My Victorio strainer I inherited from my mother-in-law.
Would you believe this was all the waste there was left
from all those juicy red globes?
 Juice runs down the front,
while the skins and seeds shoot out the side.
Into a cheesecloth bag I put chopped onion and celery, whole cloves,
whole pepper corns, bay leaves, dried thyme & Italian herbs...
can't remember what else...
I let this simmer all afternoon and evening
until it was reduced by nearly 1/2.
After it cooled, I ladled it into 4, quart freezer containers.
This will taste so good this winter in spaghetti, pasta, chili, soups, etc.
And for tomorrow....freezing our sweet corn!

And the cucurbits continue….

Help- I’m still caught up in pumpkin production…
a plethora of pumpkins, a proliferation of pumpkins, a pumpkin palooza!
Well, maybe that’s not such a bad thing-
these are the kind of pumpkins everyone should have.
They won’t rot, shrivel, or turn into compost…
well maybe compost someday…
I have more big ones to make with faces- stay tuned!
 A Fawn Run Mercantile exclusive-
my own design on this pumpkin head guy!
These were so fun to make- painted spools of thread with funky stems.
My bowl filler squash pumpkins!
I love this guy- pumpkin head on an antique hog scraper.

And just to let you know I'm creating more than just pumpkins,
here are my wool acorns with pod caps!
This is just a smattering of the new goods I'm working on just for you!
